The Kursaal will resonate with the timeless melodies of baroque music as Masaaki Suzuki takes the stage. Suzuki, who graced the Quincena Organ Cycle two years ago, returns to lead the Bach Collegium Japan, a renowned baroque ensemble comprised of original instrument performers and a choir. Founded in 1990 by Suzuki himself, a distinguished Bach interpreter, organist, harpsichordist, conductor, and musicologist, this ensemble is a rare treat for European audiences, making their festival debut this year. Bach Collegium Japan is dedicated to "bringing Bach's music into the future," sharing the joy of the composer's timeless works with audiences worldwide. "The music of J.S. Bach is part of the common heritage of humanity, and since the formation of the Bach Collegium Japan, we have continued to transmit Bach's music from Japan to the rest of the world. Our goal is to share the joy of this wonderful music with as many people as possible."
