The Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France will conclude the Quincena, under the baton of Finnish conductor Mikko Franck, who has been leading the orchestra since 2015. This ensemble, prominently featured in the Quincena during the 90s, presents a program with a distinctly French flair. The highlight of the evening will be Lalo's Cello Concerto in D minor, performed by the acclaimed cellist Sol Gabetta. Gabetta's international career flourished in 2004 when she received the "Credit Suisse" award for Best Young Artist, and her collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev opened doors to numerous opportunities in the music world. Known for her artistic versatility, Gabetta traverses various styles and repertoires, from baroque pieces with period instruments to contemporary compositions written for her, performing with symphony orchestras, chamber groups, and in solo recitals. The program also includes Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, a piece that, although not originally composed for dance, has inspired numerous choreographers; Shéhérazade, Féerie Overture, believed to be Ravel's first venture into orchestral music; and the suite from The Firebird, commissioned by Sergei Diaghilev for the Ballets Russes, composed by Igor Stravinsky.
